How does the "Automated Shipping Calculations" work?
This is a free tool provided by Craft is Art that allows you to collect accurate shipping fees based on information such as weight (including packaging), origination zip code and handling fee.
Rates are provided on real-time by our supported shipping carriers, failure to provide accurate information about your item may cause the shipping carrier systems to return inaccurate shipping rates. You are required to ship purchased items using the shipping method selected by the buyer, except on some cases (please see our Terms and Conditons > Section 3.
If you have multiple items listed and a buyer adds 3 of your items to their shopping cart, and at least one is using "Automated Shipping Calculations" (ASC), in that case, ASC will be the default shipping method. Items using "Custom Shipping" will add up their custom shipping costs and the total will be added to the shipping rates provided by the shipping carrier selected.
To get a better idea of how ASC works, please login to your seller account, under My Store > Shipping Options, choose Automated Shipping Options, then select your preferred shipping carrier, you will see a small box where you can select any destination country and enter a zip code to get a list of rates the way your buyers will get them when buying from you. You will also need to enter a weight (lbs) and an origination zip code for the test form to work.
ITEM WEIGHT AND DEFAULT SHIPPING
If you do not provide a valid weight for an item the default (lowest) weight will be used instead, this may cause the shipping carriers to provide lower than expected rates from the shipping carriers. Use our ASC test form to see rates with different shipping weights and destinations.
